Have you ever felt it? That quiet, persistent whisper inside that says, there’s more for you. More love. More connection. More creativity. More adventure. It doesn’t come from a place of lack or ungratefulness—it comes from the deepest part of you that knows you’re here to live fully, not just function.
Still, many of us have been taught to quiet that whisper. We’re told to be grateful for what we have, and of course, we are. But being grateful doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to want more.
In fact, it’s in the wanting—when we give ourselves permission to dream bigger—that we start to expand. That whisper becomes a roadmap. A nudge toward something more aligned, more beautiful, more us.
In this post, I want to talk about what happens when we listen to that whisper. When we allow ourselves to want more—and take steps toward it. I’ll share my own story, and hopefully, you’ll feel inspired to lean into the more you’ve been craving, too.
Somewhere along the way, many of us got the message that wanting more was a flaw. That it made us ungrateful, greedy, or self-indulgent. Maybe you heard, “You should be happy with what you have,” or, “Other people have it worse.” And while those statements may carry a sliver of truth, they often become the chains that keep us playing small.
As you begin allowing yourself to want more, you might discover a deeper calling within you—the desire to help others live more consciously and fully, too. If so, I highly recommend the Mindfulness Life Coach Certification from Transformation Academy. It’s a powerful step toward turning your own growth into a meaningful path of service.
We start to believe that if we desire more—a deeper relationship, a more beautiful home, a job that lights us up, more money, more time, more peace—then we’re somehow not appreciative of what we already have. But that simply isn’t true.
Wanting more doesn’t mean you’re dissatisfied. It means you’re growing.
It means your spirit is expanding and calling you to evolve.
Gratitude and desire can coexist beautifully. You can be deeply thankful for your life and still feel the tug for something different, something greater. That tug isn’t a betrayal of your current life—it’s an invitation into your next one.
When we release the shame or guilt around our desires, we make space to hear them clearly. And once we do, we can start aligning our choices, actions, and environments to support them.
For the past few years, my husband and I have felt a quiet longing—something inside both of us whispering that it was time for a change. We love Michigan, but there was this growing sense that maybe we were ready for something more. More nice weather. More connection. More proximity to family. More of a life that felt deeply aligned with the next chapter we want to live.
This year, we decided to stop just talking about it—and start living it. We’re officially making the move to Cincinnati.
It’s a dream that’s been three years in the making, and it feels equal parts exciting and surreal. We’re not just relocating—we’re redefining what we want our lives to look and feel like. For me, it’s about finding a home that feels like a sanctuary. A place where I can express beauty, warmth, and creativity. A place that reflects the woman I’ve become and the life we’ve intentionally built.
But it’s more than just a house. It’s about creating deeper roots. I want to build more meaningful connections, be more involved in my community, and cultivate friendships that nourish my soul. I want to say yes to more experiences that light me up from the inside out.
This move, this blog, this season of life—it’s all part of what happens when you stop holding back and allow yourself to want more. Not because something is wrong with your current life, but because something even better is waiting to unfold.
When you finally give yourself permission to want more, something powerful begins to shift. It’s like opening a window in a stuffy room—the air changes, your energy shifts, and possibilities rush in.
Here’s what I’ve found: allowing more doesn’t just bring external changes. It transforms you from the inside out.
More love means you show up with your heart open. You deepen your relationships, soften old walls, and allow intimacy—both romantic and platonic—to grow.
More connection leads to richer conversations, community involvement, and moments that remind you you’re not meant to do life alone.
More money allows you to breathe a little easier, invest in your dreams, support others, and create a life of comfort and generosity.
More space, beauty, or organization in your home invites in peace. You feel calmer, clearer, more grounded. Your home becomes a reflection of your values and vision.
More adventure reawakens your spirit. Whether it’s a big move or a simple day trip, adventures invite you to see the world—and yourself—through new eyes.
More success brings alignment. It’s not about chasing titles or hustle. It’s about stepping into your gifts, honoring your potential, and doing work that lights your soul on fire.
Each of these “mores” may look different for each of us—but they all begin the same way: with the allowing. That gentle, courageous decision to say, “Yes. I want this.”
And when you do? Life expands. Not all at once—but beautifully, steadily, and in ways that feel like coming home to yourself.
Here’s the part that doesn’t get talked about enough: allowing more isn’t just about dreaming bigger—it’s about becoming the version of you who believes she’s worthy of receiving it.
Wanting more can stir up some old stories.
“Who am I to want that?”
“What if I fail?”
“Isn’t this selfish?”
These thoughts don’t mean you’re not ready—they mean you’re human. And they’re actually an invitation to do the deeper work that aligns your mindset with your desires.
For me, allowing more has meant releasing the belief that I need to earn rest, prove my worth through overworking, or settle to keep others comfortable. It’s meant learning to trust that my dreams are sacred—not excessive. It’s meant remembering that I can want more and be grateful for what I already have.
It’s also meant taking small, brave steps. Speaking my desires out loud. Creating this blog. Planning our move. Visualizing the life I’m stepping into—and taking actions that match that vision, even before it all feels “ready.”
The more you do this work, the more natural it feels to expand into your next chapter—not with force, but with flow.
So how do you start? How do you shift from brushing off your desires to fully embracing them?
It begins with a yes. Not a perfect plan. Not a five-year strategy. Just a quiet, honest, soul-deep yes.
Here are a few ways to begin allowing yourself to want more:
Give your desires space to breathe. Journal on this prompt:
“If I fully allowed myself to want what I want, what would I admit I desire?”
Write it all out—uncensored, unfiltered. Don’t worry about how, when, or if it’s realistic. Just name the things your heart has been whispering about.
Pick one thing from your list and ask: What’s one small step I can take this week to move closer to this? Maybe it’s making a call. Creating a Pinterest board. Telling someone. Cleaning out a space. Starting a savings account. Tiny actions compound into big momentum.
Start noticing the thoughts that come up when you begin to dream bigger. Are they supportive? Fearful? Outdated? Then ask: Is this thought helping me grow—or keeping me small?
Spend a few minutes each day imagining your life if this desire came true. What would it feel like? Look like? Who would you be in that reality? The more familiar it becomes in your mind, the more possible it feels in your life.
Talk to people who are also expanding. Follow content that inspires you. Protect your energy from voices that shame your desire or encourage shrinking.
The first step to getting more is allowing more. And the first step to allowing more is believing you’re worthy of it.
Because you are.
Here’s the truth: wanting more isn’t a flaw—it’s a signal. A sign that you’re evolving. A gentle nudge from the part of you that remembers who you’re meant to be and what you’re here to experience.
It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. It doesn’t mean you’re selfish. It means you’re awake to the fullness of life—and willing to stretch into it.
This year, I’m letting myself want more—and it’s changing everything. More beauty, more depth, more truth, more joy. And I want the same for you.
Let this be your permission slip.
To want more love.
To want more connection.
To want a home that feels like peace.
To want a life that lights you up.
To want more—because you were never meant to settle.
So now I’ll ask you:
What kind of “more” is your heart craving right now?
Share it in the comments or write it down just for you. Let this be the start of something beautiful.
